Bachelor:

[TSM] Transducers and Measurement Systems, 3rd year, bachelor Automatic Control, has the following objectives: transferring basic knowledge regarding the structure, characteristics and precision of measurement systems: generic characterisation, measurement categories, measurement data processing (measurement uncertainties types, combining partial uncertainties, tests for detecting gross errors), the notions of sensor and transducer, general characteristics of transducers, transducer performance in static and dynamic regimes, typical transducer components, data acquisition/distribution systems (typical structures, analog-digital conversion, digital-analog conversion, analog and digital multiplexing, discretisation and retention), intelligent transducers, wireless sensor networks, industrial transducers for the mostly used measurements. Laboratory applications cover topics relating to pressure, analog and digital displacement, temperature, level, flow, rotation speed, force, analog to digital converters, virtual instrumentation (LabVIEW), data acquisition systems from electric small unified signal output transducers, DAQ applications in basic automation.

[PI_A] Information Processing, 1 year, bachelor Automatic Control, has the following objectives: transferring basic knowledge regarding information processing, characteristics and performance of experimental data processing systems, statistical experimental data processing, methods for parameter estimation of experimental data, typical regression parameter estimation, statistical hypothesis verification, applying mathematical statistics techniques for information processing, data analysis and interpretation. Laboratory applications concern the sedimentation of course knowledge through the usage of integrated development environements (Matlab, Statistica, Excel).

[ST] Course of Sensors and Transducers, 3rd year, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics, Study Program: Thermal Systems and Equipment / Equipment for Industrial Processes, has the following objectives: acquiring basic knowledge of the structure, particularities and precision of sensors and transducers , the general characteristics of the transducers, the performance of the transducers in the static and dynamic regime, the typical components of the transducers, the intelligent transducers, the industrial variants of the transducers for the most frequently investigated quantities (temperature, flow, level, pressure, displacement, mixing concentrations. Laboratory applications are geared towards transducers and pressure sensors, temperature, level, flow rate, rotation speed, force, proximity. Virtual LabVIEW, data acquisition systems from low and unified electrical signal transducers . The activities of the discipline are oriented towards: knowledge and proper use of sensor and transducer notions; explaining and interpreting ideas, projects, processes, as well as the theoretical and practical contents of the discipline in terms of the categories of sensors and transducers studied; designing, conducting and evaluating specific practical activities from the system vision of the use of transducers; use of methods, techniques and tools to investigate and correctly apply the static and dynamic characteristics of transducers; the manifestation of a positive and responsible attitude towards the field of mechanical engineering; cultivating a scientific environment centered on values ​​and democratic relationships; optimal and creative valorisation of their own potential in scientific activities; involvement in institutional development and promotion of scientific innovations; participation in their own professional development.

Master:

[IPSI] Process instrumentation in Information Systems, 1st year, Master AII, covers the topics: structure, particularities and precision of process instrumentation: general characterisation, instrumentation categories, measurement data processing (measurement uncertainties, partial uncertainties combination, tests for detecting gross errors). Process instrumentation performance in static and dynamic regimes, typical components of instrumentation, industrial instrumentation systems. Project work involves developing complex applications based on virtual instrumentation for simulation and monitoring of an industrial plant and designing a remote data acquisition system using laboratory platforms.

[AAAI_SAC] The course of Authentication and Authorization of Access to Information; Auditing and Certification Systems, 1st year, Master MPI, Faculty of Automation and Computers, aims to acquire basic knowledge of authentication and access to information, the use of electronic signatures in message authentication, network security, computer systems audit, certification authorities in computer security. Applications are designed to acquire authentication and authorization techniques for access to information based on PKI algorithms, electronic signatures, and digital certificates issued by a certification authority. The activities of the discipline aim at acquiring the skills of the future engineer with a master’s degree (automatist) on system information protection, the specialized competencies being summarized as follows: competences to use modern techniques to protect information systems based on PKI algorithms, electronic signatures and certification authorities; competencies to prepare and manage the implementation of projects in the field of information protection as well as in related fields; skills for teamwork, system integration and interdisciplinary cooperation; managerial skills for technical and economic activities.

[SIMSM] The Course of Sensors and Instrumentation in Medicine Informatics Systems, year 1, Master SIM, Faculty of Automation and Computer Science, aims to acquire basic knowledge regarding the structure, particularities and precision of medical instrumentation, and as objectives general instrumentation characterization, instrumentation categories, measurement data processing (measurement uncertainty categories, combination of partial uncertainties, tests for gross errors detection), static and dynamic process instrumentation performance, typical instrumentation components, data acquisition / distribution, intelligent sensors, wireless sensor networks, instrumentation variants for the most commonly investigated medical sizes. Laboratory and project applications are made with computers equipped with specialized software and equipment specific to data acquisition from external environments (virtual instrumentation laboratories and real data acquisition in LabVIEW environment). The activities of the discipline are aimed at ensuring the competences of using the measurement instrumentation (general and dedicated), the skills to prepare and manage the implementation of projects in the field of medical informatics, as well as the competences for team work, system integration and cooperation interdisciplinary, managerial for technical and economic activities.

[FMSFSI] The course of Reliability, Maintenance and Safety in Operations of Information Systems, year 1, Master MPI, Faculty of Automation and Computers, has as main objective the modeling of the degradation phenomena at different levels, global and structural, models based on the theory of probabilities and mathematical statistics. The course also highlights the effect of technologies on system reliability. The applications aim to create skills in modeling global and structural degradation phenomena based on probability theory and mathematical statistics. The activities of the discipline are aimed at ensuring specific competencies with direct reference to probability theory elements and mathematical statistics, statistical control, benchmarking, operational safety and risk.
